[Help Thread] What do i do if my cube (QiYi thunderclap) pops and twists corners?

The question probably sounds stupid but its my first proper speedcube and it suprised me that it just twists corners and pops aparts without me having changed anything. do i have to tension it or something? how?

oh and my average time is 1:30 minutes if that matters.

The cube is too loose most likely, you should take off the center caps, which is hard to do on the thunderclap but easy enough, then just tighten everything up equally.

I agree with the above post. It should be tightened enough so that the corners will only twist with some force behind it. It should still be good at corner cutting, though.

2) try different turning styles and find one that works for your cube and your algs

Agree. I have a Thunderclap, was popping a lot, I tightened the tensions and pops are gone. Corner twisting occurs but not much. 1 in 20 solves or so.
