I'm currently trying to search for algs to solve 4x4x4 and other big cubes using cubex... it's possible to some degree.

Here are some results, I have not tested any of them yet (have for some now, all worked), for 3x3x3 they do F-PLL and headlights in one go. To use them for 4x4x4 just change all R->r and L->l and the algs will solve OLL-parity.

What I do is setting up LL-corners as they was 4x4x4 edges. the LL-edges I remove the side stickers for and the U's I put in the striped state so it does a partial serarch. From that I will get loads of algs but only those that has got square U/F/D/B turns (U2, F2, D2 and B2) and nothing but will work (R and L can be any). So after you stop the serach you have to manually serach the list for algs that are OK. The same case = headlights F-PLL is 14 HTM optimal so 15 is not bad :)

EDIT: here is a bunch for double parity (same setup + U2 in cubex)

There are some more in the first group, I stoped the search before the end of 15 turns because it was slow.

But I'm thinking of leaving the computer on for the night and let it work into 16 moves. there it may be possible to find some algs that has got a few F2 B2 or U2 D2 in a row, turns like that you can change to S2 and E2, then it's possible to shorten the alg to 14 STM (the one I'm currently using for dbl-parity is like that = 16 HTM and 14 STM).

Edit: I just found I did all searching having D excluded. Will do a new one with D and 16 HTM.

ACube does this perfectly well...
I did this last May, until I eventually settled on a few algs I've posted on this forum.

For the last 30 minutes, I've been searching for my file with all the optimal algs for every center configuration, but I can't find it. :(

I ran into problem, cubex stops after the list of algs grows to a ceartain point (32 k of text I guess). So I cannot continue :(

If it was possible to restrict to R, R', R2 / L, L', L2 / U2 / F2 / D2 and B2 this would not happen, hope Herbert fixes possibilitys to do that for comming versions of the program.

ACube:
Code:
@java -cp ACube3.jar ACube a f <kenneth.txt >kennethout.txt

600170 ! ! ! DL ! ! ! UL !! ! ! ! DLF ! ULF ! !

Take all the solutions beginning with a dot; the others will be redundant (you can abort if you see that the text file is so far). Do an x-turn on the solutions.

Also try "600170 ! DR ! ! ! UR ! ! !! ! ! ! DLF ! ULF ! !", etc for pure inner-slice parity.

I'll leave the DP arguments as a challenge. :p
(should give you an idea for more possibilities when you find it.)

You have to modify the configuration of your web server.

He must accept a more complex request. It is possible.

Hmm, more problems, Acube is a java program and java does not install on this machine.

Not a big deal, I was doing this mostly to show it's possible :)

-------
I bolded an alg in the listing above that looks nice to me, only two cube orientations U<->B and it's all r/l/U2 turns

How old is your computer? :)

It's not that, it's the OS, only got win98 and it is so full of garbage many things refuses to work... I don't care as long as I can browse and post.

you really need to upgrade to XP or Vista ;)

That would be 'downgrade'. ;)

Has no Idea what he's talking about. I don't use vista or xp so I'm clear of any windows bias.

Same thing as always, win98 rules, you newer get viruses for example. I have been connected to the internet for about 5 years and newer used a firewall or a virus detector and not one single virus, worm, trojan... if you do the same with XP you will survive for like 5 hours or something :)

I got XP on a diffrent HD, and it is so full of trojans and stuff it is compleatly useless.

And you can't run java (and many other things).

Anyway, there are some scurity fails in win98 which are really important. A good exemple is running some code using a bug in jpeg lib (just draw a picture in a web page or sent by mail).

It's why i suggest you an unix like system. It's adapted for older computer (like a win98 based computer :d), are virus free, and have a powerful wommand line support wich is realy apreciable when you use softwares like ACube. As an exemple of these système, you can try Linux, solaris or bsd (macos is based on bsd).

For exemple, the line I suggest you :

java -cp ACube.jar ACube a q <input.txt | grep '^.' > result.txt

will run acube with the searsh spécified in input.txt, filter the redundant results and save solutions in result.txt .

yea, I know, UNIX is the best, aspecially if you like me know how to write C code. But you must work on installation, get new programs for everything and so, too much work for me, I'm bored with fixing computers after doing it since 1983 :P

Anyway, I got a new one now, 3.2 ghz and XP so now most things will work I think :)
