Choosing algorithms

Query,
When going through algorithm lists and trying to find a new algorithm, what do you look for in a new algorithm?

Having used the same PLL (badmephisto's) for the past decade or so I haven't really looked at different pll's because they all seem to be slower than what I use, even the current algs that aren't very finger tricky. I know a knew alg would be slower at first, but what are some signs that it would be more beneficial in the long run?

Thanks!

look for algs with no regrips and that you can execute in one motion without any pauses/lockups, that's just what I think. Then just learn it and see how fast you can execute it at full speed.
Hope this helps :3

Only some Algs are regripless. This is bad advice. some very common algs that are very fast have regrips e.g Y/T perm. Choose an alg that flows well with less than 2 regrips Imo
I might have misunderstood what regrips are then xD
E: nevermind I get what you mean, I'm just stupid and didn't think about that [emoji14]

Go through the list for the case you want to improve on and see if any "feel" better - the wiki has tons of algs to choose from. Some fast cubers use different ones, so just because Feliks uses it doesn't mean it is best for you.

I remember when I started years ago I used just 1 alg set and learned them all - it was very inefficient. But now with tons of options available, go through and try the options and see which ones feel best. Many top cubers have videos showing their algs and how they execute, so that may help as well.
