[WR] Feliks Zemdegs 3x3 OH single 6.88

I think the result is legit, but I suggest faz give up the record.
There was also sq1 WR with wrong scramble, but he thought it was too fast at that time, so he give up the record.
6.88 is too much improvement from 8.27, so it cause the growth of OH event hugely
This is complete and utter BS!
The scramble was wrong yes but it still resulted in a very "normal" looking random scramble that couldn't be seen to be exceptionally easy from the beginning... So as you say the solve is completely legit.

So why on earth would he give up the record? He made it fair and square. It's not his fault if he is just too fast for his time :D That's a very very stupid reason to give up your fairly earned record.
What if he had waited a second after completing the solve? Do you think he should give it up then?? I don't really understand you...

Should Maskow give up his MBLD record because it's obviously too good at this time? I mean it's almost twice the points of world 2nd ranked competitors best result...

Wow, when I saw the title for the first time, I didn't really figure which 3x3 WR had been broken, but magically two letters appeared and all became clear. I just can't believe how an OH WR can stand before Erik's TH WR... Anyway, a major miletone has been reached IMO.

Huge congrats!

You need to improve your logic there.

Even if Feliks really decided to give up the WR,
it should and will be because of the fact that there's a mis-scramble, not because there's too much improvement.

Are you saying that if Feliks broke the WR by 0.05 in a mis-scrambled trial, then he should keep it because it's not too much improvement?

Think again.

Having said all that, I think there's nothing wrong about the WR. It's a mis-scramble with nothing special, so deal with it.

Misscrambles happen, and, while I'm not an expert on the regulations by any means, my personal opinion is that this should be given a bit of leeway. Here's how I see it: As long as the misscrambled cube was in a state that is legal according to the regulations, I think it should count, because, in theory, that state could have been what was on the scramble sheet. Might this have been an easier scramble than what he was supposed to receive? Possibly. However, some scrambles just end up being easier than others.

This cut 16.8% off the 8.27. Still doesn't beat Chris Hardwick's 25.95 at 38.3% off the then-current single :P

These are the biggest jumps I can find. But 16.8% is probably among the highest percentages for "older" events (the following three were the first and second world records in the respective events):
64.2%: Stefan Pochmann to Chris Hardwick, 5BLD
68.8%: Kare Krig to Anssi Vanhala, Feet average.
75.5%: Jaap Scherphuis to Stefan Pochmann, Clock single

It's almost impossible to unintentionally mis-scramble a square-1 because if you get one move wrong, the rest of the scramble stops making sense. For the disqualified sq1 single, the scrambler probably made a mistake halfway through scrambling, and just said "screw it", and thus left the competitor with a easy scramble.

This doesn't happen with 3x3. The scrambler probably did one wrong move, but still did a full 25 move scramble.
