Hi,

I recently got a 5x5. I managed to solve it using my knowledge from the 4x4 using reduction method.
I then learned Ofapel method which I found much easier and intuitive than reduction.

After some practice I did 8:14 using Ofapel. I didn't even time a solve using reduction but it would be very long.

What method should I use to get faster times? Can I be fast with Ofapel? What method do speedsolvers use?

Thanks,
pocpoc :)

You can easily halve your times if you learn to do reduction on a 5x5 properly.

Never heard of your method though

Hmm.. Could only find Ofapel stuff in what I think is french, and google translate isnt quite helping....
But yeah, Reduction+Free slice seems to be what the majority uses....

Here is some good information to help you learn:

Its a method I found on francocube.com

1. One face
2. Second layer
3. Third layer edges
4. U face corners/edges
5. Fourth layer edges
6. Remaining centers using commutaters

I'll look into yau5 but I don't really like edge pairing
Thanks

I don't understand why all my messages keep getting deleted... this is the third answer I (try to) post.

Thanks for all the links einstein I will read them when I got time

EDIT: Maybe it's because I put a link to the site where I learned Ofapel.. Is that forbidden?
