Hey there!

Koenaj here, bringing my very first visit to this Forum!
Guess it's appropriate I do some introduction, aye?

I'm Koen Jansen, 19 years old and living in The Netherlands. I discovered cubing about a month ago, am enjoying the heck out of it and am steadily growing in speed.
Seeing how it can be quite difficult to find people nearby that enjoy cubing as well, I decided to look up on any possible Forums, and I ended up here :D!
I'm not sure how much I'll be posting. I tend to be quite active in Forums, but I can see this being different, as I only just started cubing, and am simply walking down the path, discovering the many beauties that Rubiks can offer me!

If anyone has a question, any question; feel free to ask me, and I'll be more to happy to answer it!

That's it for now, I hope I'll enjoy my stay here :tu!

Koen

Switch to roux. Crazy fast improvement time, lower movecount than cfop and less algs to learn, with same sub 7 average capability.

Hey Bh13!

I'm only solving 3x3x3 cubes, forgot to mention that ;). Anyhow, I'm using the Fridrich Method, using F2L, 2-look OLL and currently learning full PLL! I'm trying to learn 1 algorithm a day, to keep the pace up. I like to take small breaks every now and then to let my muscle memory adjust to the new algorithms.

@PenguinsDontFly - You were able to determine I don't use the Roux method before I posted what method I use, are you a wizard of some kind ?

@TDM - Thanks :)! I'm surprised there are 3 posts in such a short time span already! I'm impressed!

-_-

Lemme fix that for you.

Try out roux and see if you like it. Often lower movecount than cfop, with same sub 7 average capability (although that's possibly true for all methods).

@Randomno - I'm still baffled how he was able to determine what method I use before I even posted it :p!
But yea, I'll stick with the Fridrich Method for now, I've got everything planned & sorted out for that already, would hate to have to start over :(.

Why every Roux solver is really annoying on this forum. "Switch to Roux because I told you so." No! Let him decided what method he wants to use. CFOP is much fast then Roux.

Switch to do random moves until you solve it. INSANE FAST improvement time, like 1 second per every 50k solves. Lower move count than CFOP if you're Lau, and no algs to learn because it takes much longer! And if you're a genius that spends 23 hours per day practicing, you might sub 20 it.

Okay, for real:

Welcome to the god damn forums. BLD is fun, you should look into it.

WHATS YOUR AVERAGE?

Haha, like I said, I'll stick with Fridrich for now.
My avarage right now is 38.33s out of 100 solves! With a record of 26.26s.

Also, I've been looking a bit into BLD, and started to learn the Pochman Method, but I'm still working on that ;)!

CFOP is the way to go. Roux solvers can be a desperate bunch, and they're always trying to get people to switch. But CFOP is the fastest now and getting even faster. Feliks is doing sub 6 solves, which is amazing to witness.

This is very ignorant and borders on a personal attack. Let's not turn his welcome thread into an ad hominem.

An opinion stated as a fact. Your only supporting detail is that the fastest cuber in the world happens to use CFOP. CFOP is the most popular, so if Roux and CFOP are completely equal, then of course CFOP will have a lot more high end solvers than Roux.

To the OP:

Welcome!

Choose whichever method you like. I disagree with telling people one method is better than another. It sounds like you're set with Fridrich and that's fine. This cubing thing is supposed to be fun, so find the method that's the most fun for you.

I've taught several people how to solve the Rubik's cube. Most of the time, I teach standard Beginner's LBL method transitioning into CFOP. A couple have seemed to be drawn more to Roux. Roux appeals to people who like intuition rather than algorithm memorization. In my opinion, different people should learn different methods.

Hi DeeDubb, thanks for your greetings. I have indeed learned the LBL method first, then moved on to CFOP :).

Not every Roux solver is. Only a couple are like that.
CFOP is much fast then Roux.
I don't quite understand this because it doesn't actually make sense, but if you're saying CFOP is much faster than Roux then you're wrong. Nobody's certain which is faster, but to say one is much faster than the other is stupid. You have no evidence of that.

Roux does not suck, and there are quite a few sub 15 and 10, and improvement is a lot faster than with cfop. I started cubing june first 2014. It has been 7 months, and I am sub 14. I think thats pretty fast improvement.

Sooo, is this a thing here :D? Every method mentioned in a thread turns into a war where people defend their favorite method ;)?

yeah pretty much. This is the second time this happened. Last time it was me vs tdm. but he started it... zz.... pff.
