Center caps cause lock-up on my A type cube during the first R in this H-perm
R2 U2 R U2 R2 U2 R2 U2 R U2 R2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EyZGXdOoSFo ; 0:47)
When I take the F center cap off, the alg flows really fast.

This can probably happen on some other algs.

What can I do to prevent this? (sand/cut the caps round?)
Tightening the cube eases the problem a bit but I don't want I tight cube because I don't have good lube and it's not too tight anyway (pops are rare).
I only have that puzzleproz nail polish.
And there really isn't an easy way to get any silicone lubricant in my area.

Is it only my crappy execution?
Same problem, anyone?

Please don't tell me to switch the H-perm alg ;)

1. this belogs in hardware section
2. this never happens to me.
3. My cube actually locks up without caps and becomes fine after putting them on.
4. why are you using this H perm?

I tried it and it only happens to me when I don't hold the the cube firmly. When doing the first U2 your thumb puts pressure on FR and will cause the E slice to move slightly, causing a lock-up when you try to do the next move (the first R).

Yes. Sorry.

Exact opposite here. Center caps add material that can lock-up.

I can't do M2 and this seems very fast.

Again opposite of my experience. I just discovered that I was squeezing the cube too much, and then even a tiny misalignment of E slice caused a lock-up... when I don't squeeze the cube too firmly, the lock-up can be avoided, as the cube can freely adjust the E slice (often with a click).

Arrrgh... my caps were so imprecisely manufactured. Two sides are sticking out and serving as a great lock-up mechanism.

I think the caps should round themselves as the cube is broken in.
I have a feeling it's already better now. :)

Thanks for your help.
