Hello speedcubers.

i will tell you a little story about my speedcubing experience.
i started cubing 4 years ago. i used the beginners method( as all beginners do) i used that method for around 1 year.
i went to CFOP.
first learned 20 PLL
after that f2l.
2 look oll. ( i now around 25 oll algs now)
after that never learned anything new.

so what i want to say, im using that CFOP for around 2,5 year now.
how hard i try to look ahead. I cant get sub 20.
do i need to give up? im training for around 2 years now. never learnd any new algoritms and not getting faster.

so can a speedcuber like me get on his top and never get faster?

i now you all going to say learn full oll and practice on f2l more. i do everyday around 30-60 minutes. so that might not be the problem.

what are your thoughts about this?
please let me now.

See... People improve at different rates and several factors affect this improvement.
Of what I can say is that you can try different methods... CFOP may not be your cup of tea.
Try Roux, Petrus or even ZZ
And then stick with what you feel that you're good at

And then again ...Practice
Good luck.

Most won't, but I agree.
Some things in life, one is naturally good at.
Some things, no matter how hard they try, they will fail to become great.

However, neither you or I are likely those people. (as much as I'd like to blame my failure on some predetermined setting in the universe!)
Those situations are few and far in between, and the more likely answer is that we don't practice nearly enough.

have you tried practicing more than an hour?

have you tried practicing with a metronome?

have you tried taking a break fom cubing for 1-2 weeks?

also,

"never learnd any new algoritms and not getting faster."

- quote of the year. you hit the nail on the head. how about you learn some algorithms then?

I have also not learned any algs since I hit Sub 25

I took a sort of break for 2 years and ended up improving. Started April 2006, by Late 2010 my best official time was Low 13 I averaged about 16 seconds and hadn't improved in about a year. At home my best time was 10.48 Now my official best is 9.88 and I get a sub-10 most days at home.

Maybe you're not training right? Do you know the weakest part of your solve? Solving the cube for an hour a day may not necessarily mean training. If you don't know where you are weak, you could make a video so we can see and give you better advice.

Try taking a break. I stopped for a few days and my mind must have gotten tripped because I got better. New alga could never hurt, but practicing the lags you already know and doing them faster is also good. Work on dropping your cross time? Dropping F2L time can really help your time improve too, but you already know that. :)

Honestly I think you should learn full OLL, at your speed it won't really affect your times TOO much right now but if you want to keep on improving, at one point you will have to learn it. Practice lookahead while not timing, do slow solves while watching tv or something and see how the pieces affect others. During solves, look at your first pair, and before solving it look at the next pair and try to predict what will happen to them, then try solving them both with your eyes closed. I don't have the link, but Rob Stuart has a database that has multiple reconstructions of solves from world class cubers, watch them and you'll learn different f2l tricks.
Lots of things to improve on, don't give up.

Tops may exist. But no way at 20 sec until you are really old and not able to execute anything at over 4 tps(including pll). The main thing is how you practice. You need to change it. May I ask how old are you and if there is some medical history that maybe relevant? How many pll can you sub 2? Sub 1.5? .how fast can you do 6x(RUR'U') Post example solves and an ao5 and I can help you with a better practice schedule

A lot of it comes down to one question:

Are you willing to work as hard as it will take for you to get faster? Once the answer to that question is "no", you've hit your limit.

You don't know full OLL, but that will take a lot of work to finish. Are you willing to do that? Are you willing to put in time every day to practice your solves? If not, you know the answer to your question.

This, absolutely this! I think this is a great post, and very true!
