Hi cubers,

I've been stuck at around 21-23 seconds with OH for a long time now (four years, though three years of that were without any practice) and I thought what better way to improve than ask fellow cubers what I could do better in my solves.

Here's the video, the scrambles are in the description.
I realize the angle isn't great, it was 11 pm and I wanted to quickly upload some example solves. :p But I think it's good enough for now.

Thanks in advance for the help - hopefully I'll be able to get sub-20 soon.

Cheers,
Thijs

Thijs, your OLL and PLL are very fast. No problem there. Cross and F2L seem slow (in comparance to LL), and even though you turn slow you do not seem to have great look ahead. So I think that is you point of focus. Further than that, awesome stuff, you are three times faster than me :)

That's interesting - in my timed solves my look ahead feels pretty good. There are times when I draw a blank and can't find any pairs, but usually it seems pretty okay. Though my F2L definitely isn't good enough - thanks for the tips ;)

your LL is actually pretty decent, compared to mine atleast.. but you should probably try to double-flick your R2s, you know, ring-pinky (its actually vice versa..), its waaay faster than pinky-pinky, and LESS awkward..

I've occasionally been practising it, but it feels super weird. But I guess it will start feeling natural after a while?

EDIT: Are you saying the double flick needs to be done ring-pinky? :O

yes the double-flicking starts feel pretty natural after a while. and btw, I clearly said "vice versa". so its not done ring-pinky, its done pinky-ring, but it just sounds weird when you say "pinky-ring" haha

Why is your cross + F2L turning style different from your LL turning style?
If you just used your LL turning style ( U pull instead of U push) on the entire solve you would probably be sub 20.

Oh wow. I never noticed that - bad habits I guess. I did notice my cross being kind if iffy from time to time, though.
Thanks. :D
