Speedsolving.com really should get a favorites icon.

We gotta start somewhere, right? Here are two ideas (didn't spend a huge amount of time making them pretty).

hmm, I've had one for a long time. I don't know how I got it, it just showed up one day. I kinda like it :p Even though it has nothing to do with cubing. I don't use names, but I added one so you know which is for speedsolving.

Really? I preferred the other.

Maybe if the background were blue - bright green wouldn't match the forum style.
I've iconized both of qq's images (attached).

We can has high-res?

I can easily change colors, spacings, and projection.

I love you... I mean... that picture...

Wow. That looks pretty.

@lucas ... Ninja'd!! :o

Nice idea qq & HowSuneIsNow!

Here's a VisualCube version:
visualcube.php

... but lucas's one is much better ;)

you should get rid of all of the colors except the green and orange. it will make the SS more obvious.
Like this?
visualcube.php

I quite like the other colours there, but maybe they should be reduced in intensity, like this:
visualcube.php

... I knew there would be a use for this ... anyway, in icon format:
64x64
visualcube.php

32x32
visualcube.php

16x16
visualcube.php

8x8
visualcube.php
<-- a bit too small methinks :/

Maybe we could do something with this? It's just an image of a cube with all the black taken out.

Feather the edges, add some gradient, and some strategically placed text, and I think it could be an option. This kind of reminds me of the WCA logo:

The 'SS' pattern doesn't really scale very well. Smaller than 32x32 the 'S' is unrecognisable. Maybe something with a black background and fewer colours will look nicer after scaling. Poss something like this:

visualcube.php

... and miniaturised:

visualcube.php

visualcube.php

visualcube.php

EDIT: I think its probably better like this tho:
visualcube.php

visualcube.php

visualcube.php

visualcube.php

EDIT2 ... or with a subtle top-layer:

visualcube.php

visualcube.php

visualcube.php

visualcube.php

k, I'll stop faffing now

@lucas, would you be able to achieve something similar with PovRay lighting effects? Ie. set the green & orange squares to glow/fluoresce, then set the light source to be underneath the cube so that the U-face appears dull? I think it would look pretty cool using a proper renderer ;)

It just occurred to me. If speesolving.com uses the 'SS' cube pattern as its official logo, then we also have an official alg:

U2 B2 U2 B2 L R F2 D2 F2 U2 L' R'

There's been an icon for mine for quite some time...
