I've been using my Zhan Chi for a while and it's an amazing cube, the only downside is that it's very loud. Is there anything that can be done to it in order for it to be alot quieter? Thanks.
i thought one of the defining features of the zhan chi was that it was a clicky cube.
maybe sand it down a bit the parts that click together internally?
Zhanchi is pretty loud. My lingyun is probably my quietest cube, especially if it is freshly lubed. It does tend to pop if you are rough with it though. But if you are concerned about loudness, you wont be going at full speed anyway, so its not a huge issue. I use my lingyun at work.
It's not that it's a problem for me, and I do like the "clickyness" but it just gets a little loud when I speed solve, but I'll try some sanding mods on YouTube.
The Zhanchi is normally loud, it's quite standard like that.
The clickness is a part of what causes the noise and a popular way to decrease that is doing the 48 Point Edge Mod, but, it is quite useless on a Zhanchi. I've got no difference in feel, speed, smoothness of this mod on a Zhanchi. I don't feel that it did a job at all, therefore no noise reduction.
If you use torpedoes, the corner mod does help a tad, not much.
What does help is CPM mod from Izovire. It really made my cube much smoother and faster than ever before. It also reduced friction between edge and center pieces, therefore doing the slightest noise reduction. Other than that, Zhanchi's are just loud.
