I would like to describe one of the ZBLL recognition methods, using 1 CP & 2 EPs, after COLL.

I searched for many documents and videos in web to show this method, but could not find it. If there is any, please pardon me.
  • My 1 CP is UFL (can be UFR or other if you like).
  • My 2 EPs are UF and UR.
After COLL is recognized, there are 12 set patterns to be recognized to execute the specific ZBLL algorithm.

There are 4 sets of color combination for the CP(one face of UFL) and the EP(UF).

1. Same color set (= C)
2. Opposite color set (= O)
3. Adjacent color set with the same order as the cube center colors (= AS)
4. Adjacent color set with the reverse order to the cube center colors (= AR)

There are 3 sets of color combination for the EP(UF) and the another EP(UR).

1. Opposite color set (= O)
2. Adjacent color set with the same order as the cube center colors (= AS)
3. Adjacent color set with the reverse order to the cube center colors (= AR)

Consequently, there are 12 set patterns, combining these above mentioned cases. It is a simple mathematic: 4 x 3 = 12.

CP->EP1 EP1->EP2
C O
C AS
C AR

O O
O AS
O AR

AS O
AS AS
AS AR

AR O
AR AS
AR AR

Pro:
1. Only 3 fixed faces (1 CP & 2 EPs) should be examined.

2. The order of the cube center colors is well understood, so the recognition of the two adjacent color patterns (AS & AR) is not so hard.

Con:
1. Even if COLL recognition can be done without AUF, the remaining steps may need AUF, because the each color of UF & UR should be identified.

2. It is necessary to check whether Adjacent color combination is in the same or reverse order of the cube center colors.

I use this method for Pi and H types, because no CP is oriented, which makes me a little difficult to apply the BH recognition method.
I hope this method may suit some of you.

It is my honor to receive a comment from you, whom I admire by your precise comments to some articles of other persons, your excellent documents “ZBLL Recognition System Comparison Guide” on the 5 ZBLL recognition methods, etc.

I examined Tran-Style V1 from your above mentioned document, and understand that it looks for the 2 EPs that match with the UFR 2 colors (except U-face color). So, it means we need to check where these 2 EPs are located. But the method I described here uses always the same 2 EPs (UF & UR).

I liked the idea of the Tran-Style V2, but still I want to recognize the case by Not looking at the left face of the cube. I'm still an intermediate in cubing and don't have the time to track EPs while I'm turning last F2L.

If my understanding is incorrect, I beg your pardon.

I'm not really sure I understand what it is you're suggesting then as far as recognizing the UF and UR edges.
From how you describe it, it sounds like Tv1 or BH, but you said it's not Tv1 and you directly mentioned BH so I'm not really sure what you're meaning by UF UR. Are you comparing the two edge colors in UF and UR for their color relation (EX: green front yellow top; if the green edge is in UF and the orange edge is in UR, you'd call that C-AS? And then for the corner are you looking at where the UFL corner is or are you doing something else?

Your understanding in your example is correct.

I describe as follows what the color combination of the 12 cases are.

Example: Cube position is Yellow up.
If the reference color of the corner piece (UFL) is Green, the color combination to the 2 edge pieces (UF & UR) should be one of the following 12 cases.

CP(UFL) EP1(UF) EP2(UR)
1. Green Green Blue (called C-O)
2. Green Green Orange (C-AS)
3. Green Green Red (C-AR)

4. Green Blue Green (O-O)
5. Green Blue Red (O-AS)
6. Green Blue Orange (O-AR)

7. Green Orange Red (AS-O)
8. Green Orange Blue (AS-AS)
9. Green Orange Green (AS-AR)

10. Green Red Orange (AR-O)
11. Green Red Green (AR-AS)
12. Green Red Blue (AR-AR)

I call “C-AS” to the case No.2, because the relations of the colors are Green & Green (Correct, thus C) and Green & Orange (Adjacent with the same order as the cube center colors, thus AS).

The differences between BH method and this method (Tito) are mainly as follows;

1 BH uses total 4 faces of the 3 pieces. Tito uses 3 faces of the 3 pieces.

2 BH uses mainly UFR corner piece. Tito uses whichever of the 4 corner pieces.

3 BH uses side faces of the corner piece. Tito uses its either U face or side face.

4 BH may need additional recognition skill if the UFR is twisted. Tito does not need it because it uses only one face of the corner piece.

5 BH uses 3 color combination sets (Correct, Opposite, and Adjacent). Tito uses 4 color combination sets (Correct, Opposite, Adjacent Same, and Adjacent Reverse).

I have been using a system of recog that is the following...
1. OLL case
2. the top L and F with the non U coloured U stickers are unique per OLL case.
Thanks, but are you talking about a recognition method for OLL?
I am talking about that for ZBLL in this article.

I’m sorry if my understanding of your comments is wrong.

No. its a probably not worth it method that I use for ZBLL.

For example take ZBLL case U-U-1 (U' R' U2 R' U2) (R U R' U) (R U2 R U2) (R' U' R)

I have just memorized what the sticker orientation is for this case and have associated it with that algorithm. I only use the F, L, and U faces to recall algs.

Thanks for your explanation. Now I understand. (“OLL” in your message is “COLL” to me.)

Than, your recognition method may be “Blocks”, “BH”, or “Twisty PLL”, according to the document of Mr. OreKehStrah I attached today in my other message.

My hot take is that blocks is viable for the T U and L sets especially when you have matching or opposite colours. But when you don’t have that anywhere it’s quite tricky. In case it isn’t obvious I will be recognising COLL in every case, but if you then know where 2 edges are you should know exactly what case you have.

For H and Pi this is obviously straight up garbage, that’s why I don’t know any of those cases

Thanks for your insight.

I am using “Blocks” method for U & T sets, and yes having difficulty in recognition in case there is not Headlight or Matching (same-color) pairs.
(I use only U, F, and R faces. and rarely use Opposite-color pairs.)

Your method has just given me an following idea to recognize ZBLL for U & T sets.
  1. For those patterns which have Headlight or Matching, I keep using “Blocks”.
  2. For others, I apply them to the subjected method (Tito method).
So, as soon as I can not find Headlight or Matching, I apply the above 2, instead of deciphering more with the 1.

I checked how many cases there are for the 1 and 2 above described.

U sets: 58 cases belong to the 1, and 14 cases belong to the 2.

T sets: 52 cases belong to the 1, and 20 cases belong to the 2.

As I know ZBLL algorithms for them, the only thing I should do is to associate the above 14 and 20 cases respectively to Tito method.

I will try!
