[WR] Yusheng Du - 3.47 3×3 single

Amazing! Nice job! It will be interesting to see how the WCA actually confirms this. Lots of luck with this solve, but if it is legit that is totally fine. I guess we will see a few more sub-4's next year.

Or Jayden.;)
It’s been 4 years and still no sub 4 WR. Shows how nearly impossible it is to be sub 4 except for that lucky scramble:(

Sorry for the bump but I am quite fascinated by the 3.475 WR (as you can tell from my username) and I have watched the video countless times over my cubing career. Recently I finally came to the conclusion after much skepticism that the commonly accepted reconstruction is actually false..

What he really did:
F U2 L2 B2 F' U L2 U R2 D2 L' B L2 B' R2 U2

z y // inspection
U R2 U' F' L F' (L' L) U' L' // xxcross
U' R U R2 U R // 3rd pair
U2 [Slight hesitation] R' U R // 4th pair
[Pause] U R' U' R U' R' U2 R // OLL(CP)
[Slight hesitation] U // AUF

What about the commonly accepted reconstruction is false? The only difference in your reconstruction is an L' L added .

That is exactly my point? I'm not sure what you think you're missing out on. The commonly accepted reconstruction involves Yusheng cancelling the second pair but if you study the video closely he actually does a sort of L' 2/3's then realizes he was already set up for next pair so he undoes his turn partway through. It's more of 1 1/2 turns rather than two as the layers do not completely align.

I hope that clears up any confusion it seemed several persons had regarding my observation.
