[Unofficial] Yu Nakajima: 3x3x3 etc... Cubing for the first time in 3 months

Is it just me or does he have tons of Nike t-shirts?

On-topic: Sad thing for cubing if he does quit, no doubt about that. Not surprised though. Saw this coming *shrugs* Now only if he'd auction off his cubes...

Hopefully he wont decide to quit as he has world records and potential to get many more. If he does decide to quit, I cant blame him. Its a very time consuming hobby.

Yu nakajima, regardless if he quits or not is one of if not arguably the best cuber of our time(a.k.a. he's pretty damn good), and he has had a very fruitful and eventful career that most cubers could only strive to obtain.

If he quits, I just hope he leaves up his website and videos so we can all watch them and learn from him as cubing progresses

Looks like he hasn't read notation in a while...

It's not really debatable that he is/was an awesome cuber, but it's his prerogative when it comes to quitting.

it's not only time consuming, but it's also expensive in some areas like buying new puzzles, but he was indeed the best cuber ever.you can't deny it,even though he's 4th in the WR stats,he's still the best, who else can you think of that get's a 6.57 sec time,no one.;)

The best cuber? Erik akkersdijk, he IS currently the best allround cuber with the most WR's made.
I am also pretty confident Erik had some 6 second solves, but UNofficial solves mean nothing in competition.

Yu Nakajima has/had admireable fast progression on every puzzle he practised for and lived it up in competitions.

Yu Nakajima hasn't gone to nearly as many competitions as Erik has, which means less chance for luck and more nerves. That's certainly part of the reason Erik holds more single records than average records. Yu Nakajima and Erik Akkersdijk both currently hold one average record (7x7x7 and Megaminx, respectively). Though I still think Erik is probably the better cuber.

There's no point in arguing who exactly is the best ONE, as long as we know they are among the best, then it's fine. I hope Yu will have a fun time at the competition so that he doesn't quit cubing!

Yu progressed pretty fast through everything while Erik worked on at a steady pace, both are very impressive.

I don't think one needs to quit completely. There are many factors which might cause a hiatus in cubing, but I think one could just keep cubing as a hobby. I, for one, haven't been cubing much at all due to various factors, but I haven't quit completely yet. For me, I think meeting new people and making new friends at competitions is far more fun than cubing itself. It's a hobby to allow one to enjoy life.
