Thoughts on the puzzle:Its a pretty good cube. Out of the box, I just did solves on it and added a bit on 30k on the pieces and broke it in more and it became better than my Moyu Aosu with thousands of solves. After that I just lubed the pieces well, tensioned it and set it up and its pretty good now. For the price, the performance is extraordinary and if you want to get a new 4x4, then definitely get it. You can see my first impressions for more information, review coming soon :)

Where: Cubicle
When: Feb 2016

Thoughts: First thing I noticed was the speed of the outer layers and that the inner layers were almost as fast - more consistent across layers than my AoSu. OOTB tensions were too tight, but even going a half turn looser was too much. I think I settled on 1/8 turn looser than stock. Stability is also good and this puzzle feels more rigid in the hand, not as soft and flexy like the AoSu. Stickers are standard MoYu shades and placed well. My only complaint is it is very catchy. I have a harder time muscling through the catches on this puzzle than I do with my AoSu. On this one they bring my turning to a dead halt and then I have to straighten up and keep going. It seems to have improved somewhat by tensioning the puzzle. Hopefully continuing to break it in will improve this as well.

I can't find this in stock at any US based cube store in black. Is there a better 4x4 for the price?

If you can wait a week or so I'm sure Cubicle will restock the black version soon. It is one of the better 4x4's, period, regardless of price point. At its price I don't think you can beat it.

Yea I might just get the white one :/ I ordered from the cubicle on the 18th because their site said they were shipping out on the 22nd. Didn't hear anything until I emailed them and they said there was a huge backorder issue with the manufacturer so they won't have them till at least early next month

I'm getting one of these in the mail today! :D I'll post my thoughts later after first turns...

excited to see what your thoughts are

Well, I got the puzzle and my first impression is that it's a winner! I'm relatively new to cubing though, so I don't have experience with many cubes.

The turns feel very similar to my shengshou aurora 3x3. It's a little more clacky than the aurora, but not nearly as much as my thunderclap. The inner layers are tighter than the outer layers just enough to make turning a single layer easy without holding the other layers still. Double layer turns are still easy and smooth.

CC is just ok - about 1 cubie forward and 1/3 cubie back. It locked on me quite a lot during first turns. It's very likely that it's just because I'm not used to a 4x4. (I spent a little time on the cyclone boys 5x5 that I also got today and the guansu 4x4 was easier when I went back to it...)

Overall I think it's a fine puzzle and I'm happy with it... Especially for the low price!

Nice MoFoYa! Breaking it in should fix it. Dajh, I wouldn't suggest you loosen a guansu too much because reviews say just a little loose and it pops to much so more tighter

I don't know if it's breaking it in or my tensions though because my Guansu can't reverse cut very well and for guansu tensions it's kinda loose.

After spending a little more time with the puzzle (4 solves and some pattern making) I find that I don't get the lockups anymore. I just had to get used to it and try not to pretend I'm on a 3x3... So, the Guansu 4x4 is a great intro to big cubes for me. The CB 5x5 is nice too;I think I like the big cubes better!

Thoughts on the puzzle: This puzzle is a very nice puzzle. The feeling is light and fast and after breaking in gets much better. I've broken in my Guansu with about 500 solves and I can safely say that it's a nice puzzle that doesn't need to be lubed to be good. Lube doesn't change the puzzle too much. The corner cutting is over a piece normally and about a third of a piece reverse. The puzzle never locks up for me during solves and is a very satisfying puzzle overall. It only costs $8.00 on The Cubicle and for the performance is definitely worth the price.
