X-Cube Pre-Order at Puzzle Addictions

I assembled my cube fully and then I thought I would try lubing it with lubix. This didn't work out so well and I ended up with lubix all over the outside of my cube. Any ideas if there is any way I can clean it well without having to fully disassemble and wash it?

Lubix should only go around the core and below or around the hidden layer. Injecting it just below the surface may cause it to stick and get sticky on the faces also. To clean it off try using a warm wash cloth... you may find that it's still sticky but that's what happens with lubix :P

I think the best solution is washing it entirely, though.

i actually keep a towel and a bottle of windex around. xb says to lube the mess out of it, so i did. shock oil is everywhere LOL. so, i had to wipe it off every solve and now every like 20 solves i will wipe it down. it'll go away after the lubix excess works its way out.

Sorry, but whats the "hidden layer"?

basically the internal pieces. underneath the 4 center pieces is a flat piece with the vcube6 pin mod bump thing, basically the center that is hidden below the 4 center pieces. imagine a 3x3 is on the inside, lube the center cap.

Hey do you remember me? We talked on the phone yesterday about the x-cube 4. I heard about some called de-nubbing the x cube. What is that and is it included in the break in service?

If you get the break-in service that includes all previous services... since you don't want stickers I will remove the stickers after it is broken in. the "de-nubbing" is the same as plastic trimming. There's some extra plastic from the mold injection when the pieces were made.

just FYI for anyone who reads the thread,
this cube is really good. and izo delivered really fast.
ive done about a 1000 solves on one of them and it keeps getting better.
the tensioning of the cube is a pain, so if you order it and dont want the headache, im sure izo would tension this correctly. it took me a few hours just to find a decent sweet spot for it. the springs are really hard and so little turns make a big difference. i actually spent more time tensioning it than assemble/sticker/lubing the cube. almost as much time as breaking it in!! (lol joke) seriously, if you're going to buy a $35 cube, spend the money for the assembly so that you can get it tensioned properly. its WORTH it!
breaking it in can also be a pain, it likes to explode if you try to get too crazy with it. after breaking in, it pops a lot less and definately doesnt explode. usually the explosions are 3 inner hidden edges popping out and the outer edges/centers/corners flying across the room. =( but after about 200 solves or so, it doesnt explode anymore (even though im still careful on things like PLL parity algs) so, if you dont want that headache. . i cant even believe that izo would actually do a 100 solves on a cube. . nobody offers that! this is one of those cubes that i would actually appreciate the service of breaking in, because you have to baby it for a little while before you can really get this baby rolling!

Yep getting it tensioned and broken in is a real pain. Actually I have been just doing twists on it for 30 minutes at a time while I watch tv or something, trying to grind down whatever crap is catching in the middle layers. The fact that its so rough in the center seems to indicate that the actual design of the cube probably could have been better. But this is an amazing cube though. I've owned 3 other 4x4x4's, and this one is by far the best. It's the first one I've ever felt that's actually kinda squishy and springy like a nice 3x3x3.
Anyone who is put off by the high cost of the cube, think of it this way: I've spent way over $35 combined on several crappy 4x4x4s, and they are still crappy. For less than the cost of all those, I now have an actually good 4x4x4 :)

Do you still sell lubix lube and I might buy a couple of your cube shirts to add to my order. I will let you know in the paypal comments if i do.

Have you got a tracking number or something? I'm really curious as to where it is right now!

Unfortunately there is no tracking available for international orders unless it's express or registered. I may have registered mail as an option when ordering, it would be an additional $8 per package.
