Most people overlook the fact that a lot of people have gotten sub5 now, and are capable of sub5.55 fullstep solves , everything they need is a good scramble (i've done sub6s myself without a crazy scramble) and some luck. That being said, color neutral cubers have the advantage of higher easy scramble probability.

This is probably wrong, but just a thought... CN cubers can choose the easiest start, whereas people who aren't CN can't. So a CN cuber will usually have an easy start, whereas for not CN cuber they could have an easy start, but also could have a much harder start. So someone who isn't CN isn't going to be as consistent. Therefore if two people are the same speed on average, but one is CN and one isn't, the one who isn't should be more likely to get better singles (as well as worse singles) due to being less consistent with their times.
but yeah I'm usually wrong with this type of thing... my suggestion doesn't seem logical, because obviously CN cubers have a better chance of a good start... but then this is comparing two hypothetical people of the same speed, which isn't what you're doing

Someone who is non-CN will know instantly what to look for at the start of inspection. CN people will spend a couple of secs finding the best side.

You're right, that confirms that many people can actually beat it.

Being less consistent because of not being CN will make the bad solves worse, but it will not make the good solves better. The lack of consistency will only affect the back end of the spectrum, in my opinion. If a white cross solver and a color neutral solver get the same scramble, and that scramble has an amazingly easy white cross, I'm not convinced the white cross solver will do much better on it than the CN solver. Maybe slightly, but I think the added number of easy crosses a CN solver gets outweighs the advantage given to a fixed cross solver who gets a good scramble on his good color. So I would disagree that a fixed cross solver is more likely to break it.

Something that one of the other people brought up is that in inspection on a hypothetical scramble with an amazing white cross, the white cross solver will already know what to look for, and the CN solver will take a few seconds to find it, giving the fixed cross solver an advantage for getting an amazing single. But solvers hardly ever actually use all of their inspection time. It's rare for people to even go over 10 seconds. Again, I think that having more chances for easy scrambles raises the odds more than the aforementioned benefits of a fixed color does.

If the bad solves are worse and the good solves aren't better, how are they "the same speed on average"?

Good point. I missed that part of the scenario he created. My response would be that they aren't the same speed; the CN guy will be faster. But that doesn't follow the scenario, so you're correct. If they were the same speed, the fixed cross solver will have faster singles.

Since this entire discussion was in the context of whether a fixed cross solver or a CN solver is more likely to break the single WR, I think my point is relevant, even if it doesn't follow that particular scenario. A CN solver is more likely to break it, because it's easier to get to the speed that would allow you to break WRs with color neutrality.
