EDIT: OK after reading all the posts below I think I might have explained it wrongly I was trying to say that playing with a warm cube is sorta better than playing with a cooler cube because its looser. What I wanted to explain was that as the Black cubes reflect less light/absorb more heat than white cubes so, for loose cube lovers it might be a better thing. And I myself love playing with cubes that feel warm in my hands(I can solve faster that way)so I had mistaken this effect for the effect of breaking in. But from some source I also read about black emitting heat faster so if it gets cooled down, contract, becomes tighter it might also be a bad thing. I do know its negligible but maybe partly because of placebo.

But seriously the main purpose of this thread is to ask you cubers whether you prefer the white or black ver. of the AV as the plastic quality might also affect the results.

If you are interested in what I posted initially :

I searched around and couldn't find any recent threads discussing this so...
Ok from what I've learned, black absorbs heat faster.
So if black absorbs heat faster = expand(the internals) more if you do stuff like R U R' U' to warm the cube up.(Pretty much same effect as loosening the cube)
It would expand faster compared to white cubes.
But from what I've seen a post
Black: takes a long time to break in
White: break in fast, doesn't last as long as black
(From a 2008 thread I believe)
Btw I made this thread because I needed help in choosing the colour of the cube I might buy (A V).

for me white i lose a little recognition. you should be more concerned with this. the difference with white/black cube plastic is very small. i have white and black AV and white AV given to me but i not use this cube because 1. i dont want to spend time mod it 2. i lose recognition speed. i use cubesmith bright set and the white one looking at these color for hours on end hurt my eyes! the black with bright set do not bother me but the yellow on white bother me. i thought white plastic was more different at first because it was new to me and i play with this cube more often! but it was not true when i am timing myself.... if you ask twistypuzzle.com forum, they will tell you black is better because the alumite casting resin is easier to cast and is stronger than white resins they use. but i am not sure about guojia's material.

It doesn't absorb heat better, it reflects less light than white and what light it absorbs converts some of that energy to heat and stores it. I can't think of why friction would cause more heat buildup in a material because of its color.

As Kirjava points out, the effect would be negligible.

Black indeed absorbs heat faster than white, but white retains heat longer than black, which might cause it to "brake" [sic] earlier.

But otherwise, what Kirjava said. To create the amount of heat needed to have an effect you would have to be turning it pretty damn fast.

The effect is negligible, except for personal preference and recognition. black
and white both make good cubes, but the only case ive noticed of this NOT
being the case, is the the TaiYanII. i have two black ones, one dies to core-
stripping :'(, and they have both been as good as can be, but my friend's
TaiYan, which is white, feels a hell of a lot slower... we even ordered from the
same site!

I think the OP is trying to say that a black cube will heat up faster from the heat generated by friction?!

If you put a cube under a bright light source, a white one will warm up slower because it reflects more light, but I am sure the pigments in the plastic make no difference to how fast it warms up by friction.

Indeed, black cubes emit heat faster according to the Kirchhoff radiation law.
But the heat it absorbs is far more than the heat it emits.
Black cubes do get warm faster than white ones if the only heat source is light.
