I'm not sure how I'm supposed to go about and solve my 4x4. I've had it for about 4 days, and I've been trying really hard to solve it intuitively without any online help. I've given up. I got all 6 centers, but only 10/12 edges paired properly a few times now. I'm not sure if this even the way to go about doing it.

So for example, when I learned how to solve the 3x3, I learned:
Beginners Method
then
- Keyhole
- 2 Look OLL
- 2 Look PLL

So what is the beginner's method for the 4x4, and then what would be the step up method?

Links please :)

Well, I started off with Chris Hardwick's advanced solution which I found to be pretty easy to follow: http://speedcubing.com/chris/4speedsolve.html Shortly after reading his guide I decided to use Stefan Pochmann's centers method and started doing 2-pair chain solving for edges. I've since switched to Syuhei's edge pairing method, though. I think it's really your preference. You should do some research and find the method that's the best for you. None of them are really hard to understand so you can easily pick one and just try to learn it.
