As Ron said, it's probably going to be in Asia. I would suspect Japan, but Korea's not out of the question. I don't think it's going to be in the US, because '03 and '05 were in the US. I don't think that it's going to be in Europe because it was in Budapest this year. Asia seems like a good venue, but it's going to be a pain to get there. O well, I will make it no matter what. No matter how much it costs.

Edit: It would be nice for it to be in the US though...

Btw, '03 was in Canada, not US :P

I'd say Japan, because, well, they have a lot of cubers there, and I heard it quite popular too. Plus...I think the guys there have some experience with setting up competitions, and they have the sponsors to do it. So it won't be too hard to set the WC there.

And...The Yu Nakajima, the World Champion '07, is from Japan :P It's like they are trying to defend their title. Oh...wait...now that I think about it, they'll have the advantage then, since they don't need to travel too much o.O

Hey, thatd be cool if it were held in/or near the town of whoever won the previous WC.

Eh, I think it'll be in Asia. Japan sounds nice.

Ugh...I missed that unofficial competition in Hong Kong (I didn't know about it till I got back home from the trip!), the prizes are so good (XBox 360, gift certificates, etc).

I want to warn you though...it can be quite hot...and some areas the air is smoggy because of the tall skyscrapers that don't allow as much ventilation. Other than that, the place is pretty nice.

I'd like for it to be in the US so I can attend easier, but I think it's going to be in Japan.

However, I think after Beijing Open many people might go into cubing, and a Yu Nakajima might pop out of China, you'll never know. And don't forget all those countries that's never had a competition held before, Malaysia, Singapore, etc. Australia would be awesome too, I've always wanted to go there.

Wow, I was quite surprised to find India in the list!
Though I won't vote for India because we haven't had a competition here yet.We are trying to get one organised in February.

I vote for Japan. That seems to be the best plausible option.

Well, I guess it'd be wise to hold it in a country where the costs of setting it up aren't that much and getting there overall doesn't cost much (taking popular continents into consideration).

I don't really see the point in having WC somewhere where solving the Rubik's Cube is already popular. It'd be in Rubik's interest, and perhaps just the sport of it, to hold it in a country where it's likely to "become" popular.

I can't say Australia falls into that category with our passion for Cricket and Football :-/

If I can give any input into the time, I'd like it during the summer (last May/early June-early August). The timing this last worlds I thought was quite bad for all students out there. Maybe we should make a poll for the best time of the year for the worlds...

I agree, so July would be the best time :D

Speaking of markets, China is big, out of 1.2 billion people, any percentage of it that will start cubing because of WC would be huge.
