When you switched to opposide neutral / colour neutral?

How do you find the easiest cross in 15 seconds?

I look for cases like this

The red and blue edge is already solved, so I'll mainly look for a cross on either red or blue. I would choose red cross because another red edge can be solved in one move.

This case:

No edges are solve, but the white side has an edge almost solved, so I'll do white.

If they're all equally difficult, do you tend to choose the color that you're most familiar with?

No, I honestly just pick any random color. There are no colors that we are most familiar with.

I plateaued at 21-22 seconds for about 2 months and I was a white only solver.

Getting bored I started solving on other colors (first blue, then red) and I only solved on those 3 colors for some time. My times dropped to about 19-20 seconds as I was learning this 'half color neutrality'.

Getting bored again, I then started practicing full color neutral (since I merely had to 'flip' my secondary color orientation because I was comfortable on red, white, and blue). And now I'm averaging 18 seconds and still improving, though I can't be sure whether or not it was because I switched to color neutral.

But learning CN kept me interested when I though I coulnd't get any faster. I now can't remember what it was like when I wasn't CN and I highly suggest anyone who wants to be CN to give it a shot (dont' listen to all the people who keep saying "you have to be CN at the start", if it's still possible even for me, I believe it's possible for anyone)

This is the exact situation I am in. I plateaued at 22 seconds, and have been stuck there for almost 3 months.
In the last month I haven't practiced 3x3 much because I was frustrated. A few days ago I did a handful of color neutral solves and 3x3 became fun again.
I decided today that I am going to permanently switch to CN.
Hopefully my times improve like yours did.

i Started out as CN because when i was learning i told my friend i could solve it on white and he was like "that doesnt mean you can solve it learn all the sides" so thats what i did i did it on white till i could do it contently (using beginners method) and then i just started doing it on all sides till i was fluent on all of them. now its amazing to be CN because if there is a full cross i can use it and not worry about only solving on 1 side. i do have problems sometimes when i just freak out and cant figure out the pairs for CFOP because the colors confuse me or when i put in the wrong pair with the wrong color on bottom because i forgot what cross i use but still its great being CN and totally worth it!
