what puzzle do i learn first?

Would you recommend to start the 4x4 directly with yau?

I started with reduction but it confused me more to search the pieces all over the cube and had to insert them from all layers.
I think it's not much harder do learn it directly with yau.

The only hard thing about yau is to not destroy the first 3 edge pieces during center building but you get used to it and if you destroy them, you can still repair it after.

I’d say it’s better to start with Yau even if it’s a bit more complicated. Not much more though. That way you have a good basis from the start for getting much faster.

I don’t have a 4x4 yet. Is a MGC 4x4 good? Cuz the Moyu Aosu is out of my budget.

MGC is great for 4x4, 5x5 etc. And for 2x2 (MGC and MGC elite are supposedly the best). I have a cheap QiYi MS pyraminx, it is fine, and Moyu RS Skew (slowed down with lube) which is better than my cycloneboys.

In order of learning, especially if you want to go to comps I would pick after popularity.
3x3, 2x2 (learn the 3 otega cases), Pyraminx (I use L3E - I think it is 3 algs mirrored to 6), Skewb - Here is only recognition and then use one of two 4-move algs. Don't look deep, just one step at a time.

OH is usually always an event as well. Just try some occasional OH solves. I think I managed 3 within time limits when I was at a comp recently.

When you have these, then it starts getting harder. 4x4 is always there. Has one extra parity algorithm over 5x5 and 7x7. If you want an Ao5 (need 4 solves), time limit will be an issue on the larger cubes.

If you are older, anything blind is good. The fast young kids don't have the brainpower/attention span for this. 3BLD is usually an event at most comps as well.

i personally would say 4x4 its not the easiest to learn but once you know that you know the parity algs so u can solve all big cubes its also really fun it might take a bit to get fast at though
