What is Multislotting?

multislotting can bring down your F2L to 4sec like yu nakajima. although he is using very basic one.

so it's basically...
1. choose between R U' R' and R U2 R' insertions
2. add L moves before R U R'
3. choose between U R U' R' and R' F R F' insertions

It use that for edge control. I have a weird way of slotting that leaves slots open though.

Did anyone ever tried stuff like:

M' U R U' r' F' L F L' ... inverse to setup

I'm talking about using M-truns to create pairs during the solution of the previous.

It is not only useful for multi, some normal pairs get shorter algs from the use of M' to build, then place pair and restore M slice.

thats really quite cool! although i dont know whether you would gain a massive speed advantage until you'd really got it into your head.
sounds good for FMC though :)

Thats exactly the algs I used when I started multislotting years ago, with practice I added the F' L' U' L F case. Basically you just use the short algs you know for LL edges control during the F2L. "2.add L moves before R U R'" is the part that requires creativity, there are several ways to use that, sometimes you do a L move, solve FR and BR pairs and then undo L move.

I'm really amazed of seing Yu using multislotting at such an high speed, my 11.31s best avg using multislotting seems ridiculous compared to him.
By the way, i had many dialogs with Harris and i think he now uses basic multislotting in his solves.

To conclude, multislotting has a big potential I think but it needs you to be very used to normal F2L to be efficient.

Have fun, Sébastien

PS:With multislotting, I usually averages 24-29 moves for F2L including cross.
