Thats the thing, no!! My old cube was so fast right out the package, a lil' no-name dollarama silicone made it even smoother, and finally a good dose of vaseline+white lithium grease mix made it magnificent. Coefficient of static friction was pretty high, but kinetic friction was ridiculously low. Perfect for my turning style: max 30 degree corner cuts needed, almost no stopping during a solve, sometimes rough in LL, but I never managed to pop it. The guilty friend bought me a guhong, which was one of THE crappiest.
I dunno, maybe I'm just lubing the DIYs the wrong way. But geez, you'd expect at least a couple in 12 different types to be good. I'll try lubix guhong if they ever return.
