What does DNF stand for? What about other abbriviations and cubing jargon?

WR CR NR?

As far as I know, their respective abbreviations is:

WR = World Record

CR = Country Record?? Not sure..

NR = ???

Can someone please help me? I've been wondering for a long time now..

Cubing Phrases (Like DNF and +2)

I am a new cuber and am getting into some cool websites like this one. I was looking at qqtimer and saw things like DNF or <time>+2 or something and I don't know what it means. I just want to get familiar with it so I can be a better cuber. Also if there are other things that I should know please include that. BTW, I know what F2L, OLL, PLL, and CFOP are but not much else.

Thanks!

DNF: did not finish. You use this when you don't finish a solve.
+2: add 2 seconds. You use this when you add 2 seconds to your solve. Check WCA* rules for this.

* WCA: world cubing association

Here are some more if you want:
TPS: Turns per second
LBL: Layer by layer
BLD: Blindfolded
FMC: Fewest move count
SS: Shengshou/ Speedsolving
Faz: Feliks A Zemdegs
Comp: Competition
SCS: Speedcube shop
aoX: Average of X, example ao100 = average of 100
moX: Mean of X
WR: World record
CR: Continental record
NR: National record

There are plenty of others, but this should help.

FMC = Fewest Moves Challenge. Source.

+2 is a time penalty of two seconds when a competitor does one of the following eight things:
- The competitor inspects for longer than 15 seconds but not exceeding 17 seconds.
- The competitor starts the timer while touching the puzzle.
- The competitor starts the timer while the puzzle is resting on the timer.
- The competitor starts the timer with incorrect hand placement, where correct hand placement is with fingers on sensors and palms down.
- The competitor stops the timer with incorrect hand placement, where correct hand placement is with fingers on sensors and palms down.
- The competitor stops the timer without fully releasing the puzzle.
- The competitor stops the timer while the puzzle is misaligned within one move in Outer Block Turn Metric (exception: Rubik's Clock).
- The competitor, after stopping the timer but before the judge inspects the puzzle's resting state, touches the puzzle without making any moves (at the discretion of the judge).
These time penalties can accumulate to as much as a 16-second penalty.

DNF stands for "Did Not Finish", which is used in many different scenarios. The WCA Regulations has articulated the DNF-able situations. Results can be retroactively DNFed due to investigation as well.

Of course, these judgments (+2 and DNF) are only the standard for official WCA competitions. There is debate whether or not to include these judgments while doing solves outside of competition, but it comes down to personal preference.

how does one get a PLUS +12??!

Did you even read my first post in this thread?
And yes, it was intentional. I remember getting a +6 in my first Skewb WR average but I can't remember for certain the penalty of the solve before my 2.19 Skewb single.

I find the +2 penalties absurdly hard to judge in real time if there are a bunch of them mashed together.

On-topic: There is a list of cubing terminology available on the Speedsolving Wiki, accessible through the "Wiki" link in the navbar at the top of the page.

Have you all forgotten THIS post? Also, What URL can I find the WCA Rules? Is it just the regulations? Lastly, how do I get my best times and stuff near your name at the end of your post? I am just asking for someone to guild me around the site I guess.
