Yes, I very much agree with you. I will go step further though. I think that the 3x3 two-handed event is all that matters. The rest could just go away.

While it’s still bumped, i wanna say that most cubers don’t do fix bad habits and don’t do deliberate practice, which makes them stuck at a certain level. I also regret not practicing enough as i could have been sub-8 by now

Back when I mained 2x2, I averaged sub 4(this was back when I averaged like 18 on 3x3 so it was still my best event) and my PR average was 6.64 so I really wanted to improve it. Then I triple DNFed in round 1, two of which were not starting the timer and one was a corner twist. I've also missed a Pyra solution that could be NR if I got the scramble now(it was a 7 mover, I averaged high 6 with a 5 year old terrible non magnetic Pyra, I did a bad angle, I got a 2.27) and triple DNFed out of my first podium in 3BLD(this is actually why I started practicing BLD seriously though, so overall a positive.)
