Recently I bought a new cube. It's smooth at first, but it's getting stiffer and sometimes I can't do my moves smoothly. It's bothering me!!! I want to lube it, but I don't know which lubricant to use (Maybe WD40? But I heard that it would kill my cube...) So..................

1. Are there other ways to make my cube smoother

2.Which lubricant can I use to lube my cube?

Thanks!:D

Seeing that you're in Hong Kong, it'll probably be hard to find good lubricants. In Shanghai, I can't get anything but WD-40, which I'm not going to even try.

If you ever go to the USA, try a Walmart.

Jig-a-loo = godly lube. I suggest that if you can get it. Also try sanding down the pieces, there are guides for this on youtube (try pestvic) but yeah, i don't suggest using WD40.

if you can't track down any silicon plastic safe lubricant I would suggest using a very light application of vasoline; it is not the best but is far better than nothing.

Do you mean Vaseline??

Whoops...Stone Temple Pilot fan that I am, I misspelled it. Yes, in a pinch it is far better than nothing. I have a cube that was vaselined for 25 years with no adverse effects -- still has the original stickers on it even. It is not as fast as silicon lube but a very thin layer will cut friction without gumming up the movement.

Wow.........it's a lot smoother now.........but will I need to add Vaseline to the cube from time to time???

You will know when to add more just be feel....last a pretty long while. When you add more, be sure to clean off the cubies with a rag (should be a black coating from the vaseline and the plastic dust) -- remember just thin amount of vaseline.

++ Note that vaseline is no where near as nice as a good silicon lube so if you can get a silicon based plastic friendly spray you will be even happier. Vaseline is smooth but sluggish compared to the silicon which is very free moving and very fast.

Cheers to you.

Just break it in...It will come
WD 40 will kill ur cube!!
USe SILICON (not oil based)
it may seem like it's leaking out, but it will dry up and work "like a dream"
