Want to get Faster at Square-1

What do you find confusing? If you're finding it confusing, I suggest you don't bother learning double U. Doing opp/opp the adj/adj is essentially optimal. Double U just cuts out the unnecessary moves.

Only ccw/cw combination U perms (as in, half of the double U perms) can be done with one alg, you have to use two algs for each of the other two.

I under stand them but i find his pictures kind of confusing and the pictures didn't always match the "UF UR UB" thing, and I thought he was missing some.

I didn't know that, that would explain why I thought he was missing some.

Square-1 is all about practice. You could honestly average 25 without learning anything new.

When you do your CP algs, you can misalign by (1,0) or (0,-1) (or both) before performing the algorithm and preserve different blocks. Learn to use that to influence your EP.

ya i now before i learned this method i could average about a min and i know about manipulating edges when doing cp i can get a skip by doing it labout every 10 solves. right now my plan is to just practice and have a 35 sec average for TOS

@ neo: Do you not consider 1,0 / 3,0 / -1,-1 / 3,0 / -2,1 / -1,-1 / 3,0 / -5,1 / -1,0 and its inverse a single alg?

Not really, that's just two double U perms combined...

That's dumb. An algorithm is "a precise rule (or set of rules) specifying how to solve some problem " so regardless of its individual components, any series of moves that accomplishes something is an algorithm. Would you say R U R' U' R' F R F' is two algorithms? What about R' U2 R2 U R' U' R' U2 r U R U' r'?

I meant the optimal solution for double cw or double ccw U perms is the two double U perms combined...so you don't have to learn extra algs, similar to the conjugated PLLs.

Now that I'm to about a 40 sec average and am serious what would you guys recommend for a 30 sec average?

Cube: ≈ 9
CO: ≈ 4
EO: ≈ 5
CP: ≈ 5
EP: ≈ 18

Should I just keep practicing?
