Do I need to break in these cubes before I lube and/or mod them? I just got white v5-7 today and they are SLOW. I watched the tutorials on youtube for modding the v-cubes by memyselfandpi and so I will be doing those I guess.

Break in the V5 and V7 before lubing, but you should lube your V6 if you plan on doing all of the modifications. I sanded down the bumps on my V5's corners and although it doesn't improve the movement very much, it feels smoother.

Maybe I should rephrase what I said about them being slow. The v-6 and7 are a hell of a lot harder to turn than my rubiks and eastsheen 5x5s. After 3 solves on my v-5, its already gotten a lot faster. I've solved the v-7 twice and it hurts to try to use 1 finger to spin a side (and impossible to do fingertricks). It's a little easier to turn the v-6 sides but due to the mechanism on the inside, it's just as bad. So I think I'm going to solve them a bunch today and tomorrow and then lube and mod them tomorrow night or wednesday.

Mine and my friends V-7 are awesome 5 times better than a rubiks 5x5. 6s we're slow, I modded with the 1st 3 mods for memyselfandpi and its a lot better now. The 5 was fine out of the box, but amazing now.
