[Unofficial] V Cube 3 First Impressions/Review

Just saying, conical cuts are not invented by V-Cubes. They have no right to claim the design as their own, yet they shamelessly included it in their patent.

Really? Which puzzle had this design before V-Cube?

One thing seems for certain, V-Cube's quality control seems to have been thown out the window.

wow..thanks for the review...it's look like good cube..how about the prize?? as i knowed, v-cube is much more expensive than other diy cube like dayan or type A cube..

Ah, VCubes /do/ have torpz. Ok, so my original argument stands.

Dayan copied V Cubes, V Cubes copied Dayan.

This would all be ok if VCubes hadn't actually complained about the initial copying before going ahead and doing their own.

Plus, DaYan was the first to actually use conical cuts in the 3x3x3, V-Cube's original idea of a 3x3 (according to the patent drawing) was the incredibly ineffective "winged" design. Their freedom to use a different design for the final product is completely irrelavent here.

It cannot be determined whether either of the two independently came up with the idea of using conical cuts in the 3x3x3 cube.
Maybe it's like Newton and Leibniz, they both came up with the idea of modern calculus on their own, just the matter of who revealed it first.

In my opinion, even if DaYan did "copy" V-cube's design, they at least put a lot of effort into perfecting the design as well as adding lots of innovative ideas in the final product. The Dayan Guhong is more than just conical cuts, you know; the usage of interior curvature is what accounts for the crazy foward and reverse corner-cutting.

V-cubes, on the other hand, are lazier than Porsche designers.

PS:
An interesting thing to note -- DaYan, too, used the winged design in the ZhanChi. Though much more subtle, it is definitely the same idea as the original V-Cubes 3x3

PS2: V-Cubes DEFINITELY ripped the torpedos design off DaYan. Case closed for this one.

Daniel, you just read my mind.

The patent for the V3 looks NOTHING like what the finished product turned out as. Also the torpedoes were, in fact DaYan's design. It was a completely original idea and V-Cubes ripped it off. And the edges have a very slight resemblance to the V-Cube 5 edge, but the corners are much different and V-Cube ripped that off as well.

Unless they came to a legal agreement, during the drama last year, that V-cubes would let them off the hook if they could use their torp design?

It's extremely unlikely, and I say this because crazybadcuber had emailed V-Cube if they were going to have adjustable cores, and they said "if you don't like the best original product, you can go over to your Chinese friends". I believe they were implying that knockoff cubes are inferior, and I don't think Verdes wants to deal with any company in the East.

To be honest I wouldn't put it past them. Also, if Dayan had the legal upper-hand on them (you can't go screaming copyright all day without someone calling you out) then maybe V-cubes had to compromise? They don't have to like it.

Maybe. Until either of them release a formal statement pretty much everything remains a mystery between the two.

I know I'm going a little off topic here, but Muesli – your original compositions are amazing. It's a shame true talent doesn't ever get as famous as talentless, worthless artists do.

Speaking of talentless, worthless artists, I also saw your Nicki Minaj video. It's appalling. I can't believe how popular a "stupid hoe" herself can possibly get with worthless, meaningless crap that doesn't deserve to be called music.

Awww. I'm blushing. :3
