U perm

I currently use this: R U' R U R U R U' R' U' R2 for U PERM a.

I've seen a lot of videos that use this: R2 U' R' U' R U R U R U' R for the same U PERM a.

Which one is faster and what would be the advantage of using the second one over the first one? Also, whould it be wise to switch?

I also use it like L'U' L' or L U L or R' U R' :wub:

Its all down to what feels right for you. I prefer the ones that start with R2.

Ideally, you want to know 2 ways to do each one, so you don't have to AUF as much.

I use both. Actually, it's the same alg, but with both the mirror and inflections, you get 4 algs, and now you can do it from the front and the back.
