erm i just gotten my type a diy. the tension is horrible and the cube is really turning badly and slowly. what can i do to make it turn well and smooth?
You can adjust your tension via the screws under the center caps. To make it smoother, add a small amount of CRC Silicone, or another form of lubricant (although I prefer CRC over others. There are plenty of threads on the forum about lubricant that you can find through a search).
Check that the screws are in straight. If you want less tension without the cube popping, consider filing each of the springs a bit, by the same amount. I recommend PuzzleProz cubes because the center caps stay in place so nicely, allowing me to fiddle with the screws and springs as much as I want.
