Okay, so I haven't been on the site or even touched a cube in over two months.
In my prime back in April, I was averaging 27.43 on a decent day. So today I decided to cube again. I just finished and man was it bad. I used JnetCube timer and is as followed:
Avg. - 38.37
Individual Times - 33.25, 40.00, 34.31, 41.59, (50.05), 31.84, 36.81, 42.36, 30.81, (29.55), 44.55, 45.36
Deviation - 5.38

Wow these are horrible in my view. Only one sub30 when I used to avg sub30! Now given I did have lockups ever two seconds bc its a store bought cube. I let my friend borrow my type A. :/ My 50.05 being a fluke, I dropped the cube. But otherwise, I need to start practicing again. I have come to the conclusion that it is bc the time I took off. I am shocked!

I went from 22 to 26 in one Week for not practicing the 3x3. But I dropped down to 23 pretty fast. (But now stuck again)

Just practice look ahead and smooth execution. You'll be sub-30 in no time.

I also need to get my type A back, its a white diy type A. That probably would have given me some decent solves today too.

You can't trust your results when coming back on just an average of 10. Do an average of 100. Then you'll know where you really stand. I'll bet by the end of the 100 you'll be getting averages like before.

It usually takes me 20 or more solves just to get going. When I'm in practice.

I'm not as good as you, but I'm close. I'm finally regularly averaging sub-30.

Once I get my type A back I will, If I do 100 avg now, it will be the same result. The only cube I have right now is a WalMart bought, non lubed, brick..

2 weeks of no cubing and when I started again I did one PLL time attack to warm up and my times are back.

I guess 2 months is a little different :/

Definitely keep us posted on this. I'm really interested to see what happens, particularly in how fast you regain your average back to something around 27.

I just took another average of 12, throwing away best and worst. It resulted in a 36.43 avg. Two seconds better but still nothing compared to my old times. I think I'm going to buy like four type Ds and stick with those.

save and get a variation of cubes, like 4x4,5x5,2x2,square-1,magic there are lots of cool things, try to get a variation of them then 3x3 wont feel so bad cos you have to practise everything else from scratch.

Time off from cubing can actually help. I once hurt my wrist cubing (I cubed too much cause I hurt my ankle free running, lol) and I put it down for a full week. After that my wrist was fine and my times were amazing.

It takes me at least 2 days to get back to normal. For a 2 week break, it'd take me a few days to get back.

i took a break, and I've been doing terrible... every average [of 5] seems to have one good solve like an 11 and the average ends up like 16-17?!?!

I'm forcing myself not to cube for 3 full days. I've been averaging like 21 seconds, and it got me so mad last night I threw my cube, then spend 45 minutes looking for the center caps that popped off.

Not to mention the dent on the wall inside my closet...

I was pretty ticked last night too, I got a 15 average. I averaged sub 14 for a few days straight, before I took 3 days off.

time offs are impossible for me. i cant stop thinking about cubes and sometimes i do algs in my head :D

If you subbed the word cubing with any standard classic vice, you’d have an obvious obsessive compulsive addiction.

WOOT!!!!!!!! I just did an avg of 5 for cubemania, times as followed:

31.50, 28.05, (24.38), (42.05), 27.13

AVG - 28.89s = SUB 30!!!!!!!
