Tightening the Professor Pyraminx

Does anybody know how to make the Professor Pyraminx a bit tighter? I do not see an obvious way to remove the tips to get at, well where I think the screws should be…

Yes. If you turn the tips 30° and use a very flat flat headed screw driver and wedge it between the base of the tip and the actual tip and force the tip down, it will pop the tip off which will enable you to tighten the puzzle.
