So ive been on the cube for about 5-7 days now, started with the beginners method and got my time down to 1.30. After that I went on with the keyhole method for a day or so and now im using the intuitive F2L, been using it for a day or two and im trying to work on the first 7 OLL's and PLL's (the ones used in the 2-look OLL). Memorized about 7 of them I guess but im going to keep on fighting so wish me luck everyone.

PB: 1 min & 7 seconds, Average: 1min & 20seconds.

thats pretty impressive for that short time :) especially the intuitive f2l part, in one week. I don't know... should Harris Chan be concerned? haha

Id suggest you slow down, I used a beginners layer by layer method for a couple of months, and I had gotten my average down to about 50 seconds or so before I attempted F2L.

Theres nothing wrong with using a more advanced method, but sometimes people jump into things and get frustrated by its complexity.

Having a strong look ahead (being able to anticipate the next step while you are performing an algorithm or move) and being able to use finger tricks and triggers are more important than knowing lots of algorithms.

EDIT: Seeing badmephisto's post above me reminded me. Go to his youtube page and watch some of his videos on F2L, and solving in general. He has a clear way of explaining F2L which most other videos on youtube don't have.

Actually he is the only reason why I learned the F2L so fast. Badmephisto is a great teacher so props to you man!

And yeah I know im going a bit to fast but after I got to 1min30 I had a hard time getting my time down, so I went and tried the F2L so I could practice my recognision since im a bit slow (not stupid ;) ). So far im doing pretty well id say.

EDIT: I must say that I find id very unreliable becuase I get times ranging from 1min to 2min so its quite a big gap.

great! I got to an average of 1min just as fast as you (less than 2 weeks), but got stuck doing LBL at that speed for 3 month before moving onto petrus/fridrich. And now I'm stuck at 25-30 for months. But intuitive F2L so fast is impressive.

Its taking me about a minute to complete the first 2 layers, and I dont see any improvement so my question would be is there any way to work on my recognision and how fast I notice different pieces, because right now thats whats taking so long I guess.

Practice dude, practice. I'm in the process of learning intuitive F2L. I've only been at it for about a week now, but i remember on the first day, it took me at close to 2 minutes to solve the first 2 layers, and at the moment i do it in probably about 40 seconds.

Practice is key here :)

Thanks, ill keep practicing then, just bugging me that im still getting times close to 2 min :(

If you don't already do, lubricate your cube, and use finger tricks. Those will speed up your times tremendously, and that's how experts turn the cube so fast.

Then, while practicing, develop your own tricks and just keep on practicing.

Also, if you already don't I'd advise you to use Leyan's Beginner Method which can get practice.

Cube is lubed up since I got it and fingertricks was the first thing I learned actually :D

@the method, I started out with the Dan Brown beginner method which gave me a good deal of speed and taught me how to look one step ahead but the F2L seems to be a lot harder to look beyond and find the next step, not sure why but thats how it is to me.

Thanks for the reply though ;)
