Well I've been following him since 2014.
He is so famous because of his collection and the way he acts in his videos (making jokes on himself, of cubes he can't solve, etc..). The fact he records his videos in Spanish has made the rubik's world grow in Latin America in a fast rate. At first he was interested in speed cubing, he is sub 25 I believe, he also uploaded (at the time) the best video tutorials for Ortega, olls, plls, intuitive F2L, Yau method, he also have the best Spanish tutorial for conjugates and commutators. He loves solving all weird cubes by himself (using conjugates and commutators) he doesn't make tutorials anymore, he promote that people try to solve them by themselves. I believe his collection rounds 800+ cubes. And I can tell as moralsh said, his audience (by now) is mainly kids who are being introduced to the rubik's world.
The rubik's world in Mexico has grown a lot since he started to being famous, even the "cubo pez" (fish cube) is being sold in cube stores.
Sorry for my English, I have to go to the laboratory and I wrote it so fast, but I can talk a lot about him.
