It is an alternative to Yau method. Hoya is also quite fast and some of the top solvers use it.

In Hoya the 4 cross edges are built on the bottom using the last 2 unsolved centers

In Yau the 3 cross edges are built on the left using the last 4 unsolved centers

You can look up both the methods if there is any confusion

Hoya is a great method (I use hoya)!
In hoya, you first build 2 opposite centers that do not include your cross color. Then you rotate so those are on the sides, and build your cross color center on the bottom and the back center. Then you solve your cross edges (using triggers like Rw U’ Rw’ or l’ U l). Then you do F L to move the cross edges out of the way and finish your top and front center. Then L’ F’, and you just have normal edge pairing and stuff to finish.

It is not a variant of yau5 but a parallel method.

Both have similar ideologies, to not have z2 rotations in solves (like in redux) and to speed up lookahead.

i was so close to sub 4.. but
i looked at the time and.. 3:35.. i panicked and f’ed up and i was at 3x3 stage,
many lockups and panic.. i literallt finished 4 edges at sub 2 minutes.
this was meant to be a sub 3 if i wouldve done faster.
but it was a good solve and im happy

my new goal is average sub 4
im really really close! every second counts because im averaging 4:00-4:20
i need to plan more in inspection and better edge pairing.
i will keep you all posted

BIG update
i got my new cubes just yesterday!
i did not order a 3x3
but i did get the VIN 5x5 ballcore, returning to my 2 year old abandoned 5x5 session on cstimer was insaneee
and man i am getting some amazing sub 4s
