I came up with a game a while back. Anyway I think it is awesome and would love to see people try it at comps especially if you are a good chess player.

For the standard game it is basically a standard game of Chess, with the following additional rules:

The player whose turn it is, must make a legal move before his opponent solves a 3x3x3 Cube, otherwise he forfeits.

Secondly, the player whose move it is NOT, must solve his cube within a predefined time limit, otherwise he forfeits.

The way it would work:
Players provide 3 cubes and there would need to be enough scramblers to ensure a cube per opponent was always ready. When your opponent makes his move you start his timer. you could for instance if it was your turn, decide on a move and use the rest of the time you opponent is solving to inspect your next cube then finally making the move. Who will try this?

also, who would be awesome at it?

you can also play the shotglass version of it, for an even more intense challenge. (every time you lose a piece you must do a shot, also in the time limit ;))

I have played many cubing + chess variations with my friends, but never one like this. Seems like the fact that you have to solve a cube when it's not your turn will mess up the flow of the chess game. I've played where you make a cube move and a chess move before hitting the clock and you win through checkmate or by solving the cube. It's also fun to play lightning chess (1 minute a side) but with the rule that your cube has to be solved at the end of the game or you can't win. You could do the same thing instead with a bigger cube and a longer time setting.

My rating is around 1700 btw. What's yours?

Who wants to go on FICS with me?

Those variations sound awesome. Will definately try them, do you not have to play quite aggressively though to win by checkmate? It's nice because you are less likely to resign.

I like speed-chess-cubing because it is just so fast, and intense. Though never had a good game as i'm better at both chess and cubing than the people I am usually with.

I have never played a rated game and don't play online unless I play as a guest. I played at a club a while back and could hold my own against first-team players. 2nd best in college and I ranked 3rd at University last year.

I would love to, but after january 21st, I have exams and can't afford to get addicted to chess aswell as all the other stuff I am :p.
