I was wondering today if your posture has a significant effect on your solves. I have terrible posture when sitting, but I started to wonder if it was effecting my solve times. I noticed that a lot of my competition big cube solves are faster than my normal ones, and my theory is that since I try to have good posture in competition, it might be improving my times. Has anyone else noticed this?

Time for tests. I will return with data.

EDIT:

Avg. of 5 slouching: 18.23

Avg. of 5 with good posture: 17.76

Cool.

I concur.

I do better when i sit straight.
I think its the angle of my eyes to the cube.

When i ssit straight, i can see the U and F layers easier.
When i slouch, im looking mostly at the F layer.

Ah, now that makes sense. I never thought of that.

Do you know who has EXCELLENT posture when cubing, not sure why I noticed, but I thought it was awesome, is Anthony Searle :P Good on you! I slouch like nobody's business, but there is a reason for that....

Anyway, see you in Dusseldorf, Charlie. :)

And what's your excuse for slouching?

Lol really it's a compliment, I wish my back were as straight.

I just have back problems due to something you should have noticed last time we met. I'll give you a clue, it's not something you have...

I most definately agree. It helps with the solve, and makes you look like the real deal (both applicable to Searle of course).

It's killing me Charlie! What is it?

Wow, I was just thinking about this today
Well I get better solves when I sit up straight, but when I slouch i'm only off by about 4 or 5 seconds.

I think you should go with being comfortable in your seat, so you can relax and focus on the cube.
