if you're new to this board and hoping to get encouragement in your hobby of cubing, look elsewhere. being hit with nonsense like this for saying the wrong thing, certainly damaged my enthusiasm for the sport, far more than anything a certain mr. zhuang did. have a nice day all.

after re-reading your post, it did have a little sense of worth. In reality, that thread has been dead for so long, that there was no real reason for the bump. The infraction will stay, but if you read the rules, it expires rather quickly.

wow, i thought my post did contain something useful (odds of an ll skip) along with my attempt at humor. i don't think i should have been penalized. may i have this infraction removed? was there any way i could have made my post without receiving an infraction?

I'm not sure if you expected to earn brownie points from the rest of the forum because of that or what. Rules are rules though. Those points will expire pretty quick. If you think your resulting punishment would be a ban if you post this thread, and you know the points expire quickly, why would you make that trade. Sounds to me like somebody wants attention. You do realize there is a PM function, right? You can use that function to send messages to Moderators and/or Admins if you think you got treated unfairly. I suggest using that next time.

Dude, that's a rule at EVERY single internet forum that's worth anything. It only makes sense, why does an old dead thready need to be back on the front page?

Honestly, you should basically NEVER bump threads that are that old. If you have something important enough to bump it for, just make a new thread.

There's no reason why that should discourage you from cubing. You're just learning a rule of internet forums. Now that you know it, just play along and you can have tons of fun cubing.

Edit: BTW, the infraction you got is hardly a punishment at all. People just get infractions occasionally, it's not a big deal. Don't worry about it, I've been modded on basically every forum I've been to.

This isn't anything specific to cubing. Thread necro is bad etiquette on any internet forum (and in case there was any doubt, it's clearly outlined in the forum rules which all new users should have read). Wanting to quit cubing over this is about as logical as wanting to quit cubing because you got pulled over for driving too fast.
