I have developed- wel not really developed, just taken the components from different systems to build the simplest system to solving the rubik's cube that teaches you things that are fundamental to speedsolving unlike the system in the Rubik's Solution Hints Guide. And best of all it requires only 3 algorithms!

I won't tell you what it is yet. I was wondering if anyon else has thought of a simplest system to solving the Rubik's cube. It doesn't have to be original just as long as it requires little memorization. By the Solutions Hints Guide standards this should be under 7 algorithms only. So let's see who can create a 2 algorithm system or maybe even a 1 algorithms system! Don't forget that it has to include fundamentals to speedsolving. The number of steps doesn't matter though.

Hi!

I wonder if the number of algs has anything to do with simplicity at all. I currently have learned quite a few people how to solve the cube and I am slowly getting more and more experienced in how to teach someone in an easy way... Today I taught someone in the train how to do the F2L and OLL, and it took less than 30 minutes (of course, it also depends on the person you are trying to teach). But then she had to get off the train :s.

anyway, I wonder what your system is.. I usually do the LBL method. For OLL, I first let them practice the RUR'U' move 6 times.. or 60.. :). And then the whole OLL can be done by RUR'U's basically. Then the LL can be done with a commutator style alg, with algs like R'D2R U R'D2R U R'D2R U2 R'D2R, a bit like how a lot of ppl solve the megaminx LL corners. The same thing can be used for the edges.

Well, like I said, something that teaches you fundamentals of speedsolving. So I would count that AvGalen.

Joel: I too wanted to find an easy way to train people .I always suggest to my sister to speedcube but she hates that she has to remember things to solve the cube. If I had a choice I would have gone to your site to learn to speedsolve by using your "Getting Faster" tutorial which is probably the best beginner's evolution to full Fridrich LL and a good F2L. In my opinion the LBL method is not good at all as it wastes moves. And what if you have an edge in pleace in the F2L? More moves wastes when you could have done it keyhole style or with 1 of 3 algs.

Any guesses to what my system is? Hint: it's all in the F2L. And remember it teaches you the fundamentals of speedcubing- things you will need later on.

lol, I was thinking of using that in place of a corner diagonal and to place the last corner of F2L. But it might not really teach a person anything besides how to get really fast at R and F. Still might be a good idea though. I have worked out already how to do H-perm, two corner diagonals, and some other things with it. That way they only do it once in the LL.

When you say "simple" and "easy", what do you mean? Easy to understand and comprehend the method, or easy to solve the method? I think Fridrich beginners is very easy to learn just by reading a guide online. Heise may be hard to get a hang of as a beginner, but I can see switching over to it after getting a decent understanding of the cube.
