Hello! I'm really new to the forums and not really sure how it works, but I do need some help with a survey. Currently, I am working on a project about Rubik's cubes on how ethnicity, culture, and race plays a role in the attraction or time commitment put into the cube. There are plenty of research articles about Rubik's cubes and mathematical algorithms, but none about the people solving them.

you can find the survey here: tinyurl.com/Rubik2017

Thank you very much!!!

Given your objectives, I was expecting more questions about average time spent practicing peer week, how long you've been cubing, etc.

Filled in the survey but since I'm "International", I don't think my data is going to be that useful for what you want to see.

I filled it out, but honestly I'm not sure the survey was thought out much. It seems to pre-assume everyone is probably a student or recently a student. I'm 45, so I go in the 25+ age bracket which is way too big. There's nothing about where you live or come from either, which seems odd if your goal is analyzing cultural impact.

Further, there doesn't appear to be any guard against one person filling the survey out more than once.

Filled it out, you should probably have more buckets for the super-45s. I'm sub 90, but there's a big difference between sub 90 and sub 60 (and a lot of people who quit in between)

I have to agree with dboeren. Also, having the question 'Where are you from"? and only two answers: USA or International seems absurd. Why is only one country mentioned? There are dozens and dozens of nationalities on this very forum, so I don't think you're going to get much pertinent information about people if they are only classified as American or 'other'. It appears that you'll be able to glean more useful information off of whether a cuber is from Alabama or Idaho more than you would if they were from India or Poland or Paraguay. I don't get it? Cubers range from toddler to 90+ in age and span every corner of the globe. Make it a 'universal' cubing project, not just the cubing world 'as seen through stars and striped sunglasses'!

First of all, thank you so much for the feedback! I really appreciate it. To clear up some concerns stated before, this survey was originally intended for the US National competition at Fort Wayne. Since it was a national competition, I assumed most of the surveyors were in the US. I did not really think about much when I was suggested to post it onto the forums. I'm sorry if it came out to be a little racist or narrow-minded of me. I will include many of the changes suggested by you guys! Once again thank you very much for your help!!!!

Also, I am quite new to this with all the survey thing. If there are questions you feel should be included, just tell me and I'll probably add it if it fits with the project!
