for every DNF in 3BLD, you must submit how many solved pieces there were when you finished.

What happens if I have 4 or 6 center pieces unsolved, but everything else solved?

Hasn't happened to me but I'm just curious.

The pieces are solved based on the centers. if that happens, and the rest of the cube is solved, 0 pieces are solved. I doubt this will ever happen tho.

Most times when someone places the cube in wrong orientation, they memo in the same orientation.
