Hey guys, solving a rubiks isn't anything new to me, or solving one with patterns or pics on it. But today a friend bought me a sudoku rubiks cube and it is stumpin me.The problem is that there is a different number in each center and some of them are the same even, I think that there are two 1's in diff center positions. I have tried solving one side because there is a 5 in the center, but there wasn't an up or down or side to side pattern. Is there any pattern to solving this? Or is it just by random chance that you stumble upon a few right numbers and are able to solve the cube? there is a background pattern on the cube behind the numbers, which is the same on all the sides, but i don't know what it looks like completed, it is some Chinese or Japanese symbol.

You just have to have each side with all different numbers, and cannot have 2 or more of the same number on the same row. Your cube should have all different numbers on all 6 sides with no numbers repeating in the same row or column.

I have 2 soduko cubes made by the same people. One has 5's in the center and one doesnt. The one that has the 5's in the center is easy to do if you know how to solve a cube basically. The one without 5's is gonna be totally impossible without writing it down or something. Solving it doesnt mean much to me so I have never done that.

Figure out the what numbers need to go where for a bottom, build a cross, and then pair and insert, etc. I used that strategy for a M&M cube and it worked.

Someone let me try a really, really cheap sudoku cube. It did not have 5's in the centers, so I quickly knew each side could not be a magic square (where every row, column, and diagonal on a face add to the same value).

Eventually, I decided the only goal was to have 1 through 9 on each face. This particular cube was simpler... The numbers were sequential: 1,2,3 in the top row, then 4,5,6 below that, then 7,8,9 below that. The relative orientations of each side were different, causing pieces to be unique.

Each quarter turn would take 10 seconds because of all the jamming, the cube quality was so bad. It was soft flexible plastic, nearly like a hard rubber material.

To solve, I first tried to arrange the corner pieces so that the same numbers for corners would not appear on a face. Then I moved edges around. I got a parity problem (4 centers needed to shift from FLBR faces to LBRF faces, respectively), and as I was doing an algorithm, I jammed so much, I got lost.

I took all the pieces out and reassembled it solved. The guy intended to give it to me as a gift, but I told him I would prefer he kept the cube.

If you follow the orientation of the numbers on the corners and the edges the solve pretty easy because the cubes can really only go in one or two places. I used the orientation first and then checked on the numbers to see if it would work in that place and it came together very quickly.

Does anybody know where to get sudoku stickers for your cubes? None of the sudoku cubes I've seen come close to a DIY.

Cubesmith doesn't have them.

How cool would it be to have these stickers? http://www.randelshofer.ch/cube/4x_4sudoku/? Those look great

edit: Cubesmith DOES have them, they were staing me right in the face.

or you could make your own using those number stencils and some tile or sticker material.
