Stupid Question: What does Sune mean?

I know this is a stupid question but I've heard a lot of people say this and I'm not quite sure what it is. So I was just wondering what is Sune? I apologize for wasting anybodys time.

i'm pretty sure it's a word (i think a name) in swedish and lars petrus just decided to name it that. something along those lines, though I could be very, very wrong.

Figured since the topic was already brought up, I'd ask this -- what does Sune mean in Swedish? If this isn't true, then why is it called sune? It's been bothering me, and I haven't found an answer anywhere.

Son
Lars called it that.

Why is this not in the Beginner's Forum?

Especially so you could come in here and complain about it

Sune is a swedish name, although not that common.

Niklas, Allan and Bert are also swedish names, but i guess they're more common in the US.

Yeah! This is Sune mean, got it from Lars Petrus site.

"I call it Sune™. It twists three corners, leaving one untwisted. It also moves edges, but we don't care about that yet."

LOL!

If your gonna mean the other sune? got it from wikipedia

"Sune is the deity of love and beauty in the fictional world of the Forgotten Realms. Her dogma is primarily concerned with love based on outward beauty, with primary importance placed upon loving people who respond to the Sunite's appearance."

You don't really need the U2 at the end unless you want to keep the corners in the same place, and the back + right edges in the same place (it switches left + front edges).

Also I do antisune as R U2 R' etc etc etc... do people use sune from every angle or something? I only use the Sunes that move the front right F2L pair. I have a friend who just mirrors the Sune on the left instead of doing antisune, which I never thought of, but I can't do it fast with my left hand.

Also, if anyone didn't know, Niklas solves the Sune OLL too, but switches two corners.

It's the slang for "soon". Like people say here "I'll be averaging sub-20 sune."

JUST KIDDING

That's not how Lars uses it, though some other people do. He doesn't distinguish reflections, so:

Sune: R U R' U R U2 R', L' U' L U' L' U2 L, etc.
Anti-Sune: R U2 R' U' R U' R', L' U2 L U L' U L, etc.

The names are for the algs, not the cases.
