Hi All,

I solved my megaminx until all the corners are correct but I am stuck at the edges. All the edges are in the wrong places:

x
w y
v z

the cube will be solved when x go to y and y go to z and so forth. Any idea how to solve it? I want to do A perm but no idea how to do it in megaminx (it have 5 sides)

Lastly, I hope I post at the right section

EDIT: it supposed to form a pentagon......

P.S. Stefan Pochmann's site is a bit confusing..... try it before but no idea what is (RL') (NOOOB)

Did you ever learn Dan Brown's method (aka the Rubik's booklet) for solving the last layer on the 3x3? You can do the same thing on the megaminx. You can do a T perm (just like on a 3x3 ), or an E perm. I haven't yet tried to do A on the megaminx (and mine is in pieces at the moment), but if you do the inverse of the R2/D2/etc that you made instead of another R2 in the same direction (since the megaminx has 5 sides) then it should work.

I do my A PLL's from a different angle, but try this: R U' R D2 R' U R D2' R2' - note that on a 3x3 the R2' would have the same effect as R2, but a megaminx has 5 sides, so here R2' would actually be equal to an R3.

If you want to do megaminx easier though, just do F R U R' U' F' to orient edges, then Sune to cycle their permutations. Use the R' D R D' commutator to orient the corners (after you orient a corner AUF an unoriented corner to the FRU location, and repeat the commutator, etc). To permute the corners, do a similar setup: R' D' R, AUF, R' D R, AUF, R' D' R, AUF, R' D R, etc.

Disclaimer: I might have missed something here, but you get the idea. You can always refer to dan browns youtube videos, the booklet solution, etc. Some people prefer to permute the corners then orient them, but I find that orienting them helps me permute them following the patter so I don't screw it up. Just don't forget that if you have to remove a corner again, to move D in the proper direction (just alternate D/D'/D/D' etc everytime you do R' -D move- R), otherwise you'll come out scrambled.

Are you familiar with the J perm on the 3x3? Do that. R' U2' R U R' U2 L U' R U L'
If it isn't solved, do it again and it will be.
If it is V to Y to X though, do a T perm R U R' U' R' F R2 U' R' U' R U R' F'

lol.

anyway do LL like this:

EO: F R U R' U' F' and inverse

CO: sunes, every case can be solved in two or less sunes iirc

EP: RUF Jperm cycles 3 adjacent edges, Tperm cycles 3 non-adjacent edges. If you have an odd pure case then you can use (R L' F' R' L', <U>) commutators.

CP: (R' D R, <U>) comms, or Aperm and mirror: R L' U R' U2' L U2 R U' R' U' L' U L
