hey there.

as the title says im stuck at ~18 sec averag.im in the process of learning all of the oll's (about 38-40/57)
im practicing several hours /day and i'm not improving :mad:and i need your help.(fingertricks , style , cube , algs and such)

thanks

Essentially, practice. All the tips in the world don't help if you don't practice enough. How do you think the top speedcubers get so fast?

sorry for my poor english but can you try to explain what a metronome is?

A metronome is usually used to 'tell' you, how fast to play your music instrument. It gives a constantly 'click-noise', so you don't play too fast or too slow.
When its used at cubing, it should help you avoid breaks and practise lookahead during the solve - every click is one turn (as far as I know).

Alex

Or, as Wikipedia says: A metronome is any device that produces a regulated aural, visual or tactile pulse to establish a steady tempo in the performance of music. It is a useful practice tool for musicians that dates back to the early 19th century.
Sounds better than my explanation :D:D:D:D

SEVEN THINGS TO DO

1. Practice
2. Use a metronome
3. Finish learning the OLLs
4. Practice
5. Use a metronome
6. Practice
7. Use a metronome

1. Duh
2. WHY?
3. Good idea
4. Yup
5. WHY???
6. Duh
7. WHY?!?!?!??!

Added by me:

8. Practice slow solves
9. Turn faster

P.S. - Metronome could be an alternate method to getting faster, I find it boring.

8(by me). Turn faster

Why use a metronome? In my opinion, it helps both your TPS and Look Ahead at the same time, which will make you faster.

And, yes, I agree with #8.

Don't bother with a metronome, and don't worry too much about finishing all of the OLLs right now. Judging from the video of your solves at Västerås you need to turn faster during F2L and improve your LL recognition. Of course lookahead can always be improved.

Try do some slow turning solves where you really try to look ahead, and then do some solves where you are turning as fast as you can and see how it affects your times.

Another note: once you are sub-20 you will find that improvement comes slower. I was stuck at 18 for 2-3 months before I started improving again.

No you don't. Just practice lots and you'll eventually break the 18 barrier. Finishing learning the OLLs would help too.

more practice= faster recognition and fewer pauses= faster times

Who needs a metronome? It's completely pointless. Just practise more and learn more algorithms.
I completely agree.

Personally instead of using a metronome I just do slow solves without stopping. I would recommend you do it as well, because the metronome might make you nervous, because you are afraid of missing a beat. And if you do miss a beat you get all messed up.

First stop saying and thinking that you are stuck, what might help is practice look ahead, you do this by turning slow in the F2L part so no train at speed but on constant turning without pause, you can also practice 4x4 for your look ahead
