Steven Brundage on America's got talent. All acts

U know this guy is noticably fake right? I can do most of his tricks...
He is a cuber and he knows that most if not all cubes understand his tricks but they are mind blowing to most noncubers. That doesn't make home fake. He obviously is a good magician as well, if u would have gone on stage and performed one of his tricks everybody would see what u did

Never said anything abo non cubers, or what I could do on stage...

I would say he is really good, and it has nothing to do with Rubick cube. It could be any props instead of the cubes. He does nice tricks and has no place to be on talent show. He is a pro for tricks, not a talent to be discovered. By my opinion, he should be someware on stage making money, not to entertaine the audience for free. The only purpose of this shows is the Tv stations's greed to profit more by showing "telents" for free, instead of paying the real program by which I mean actors,scriptwriters.....very sad.

I really like what this guy does. Let's just get that out of the way first. But I'm confused with the general reaction of the community regarding these Rubik's cube talent shows.

Some time ago, this guy went on a talent show, but his act was generally not well received by the cubing community, based on what I could see. Whenever Steven gets posted to the forum, the general reaction is positive. What's the difference between these 2 acts that causes the community to act differently?

Again, I'm not trying to criticise Steven, I really like what he does. I'm just confused.

I think the difference is the honesty of the approach. Steven presents as a magician doing Rubik's cube tricks. The BGT guy, and others, fake or enhance a skill. Steven is a member here btw.
Fancy saying Hi @Sjbrundage?

This.

And to what was said about those talent shows:
Those shows aren't really for talents. Those shows are for entertaining and nice performances. But was is considered to be talented anyway?
Is Feliks for example the most talented speedcuber? Or did he maybe just practice a ton and focused on the right things?

Agreed I find magicians annoying that lie. My older brother is a quite good close up magician, and he never lies during his shows. He lets people make their own (often wrong) assumptions. :)

I do think Feliks is especially talented, given the number of other cubers who have also spent countless hours practicing, and he is still in a class of his own basically (at least so far). Is he the most talented, who knows maybe someone could be better in the right circumstances of learning and practice time, and some day they probably will.

How does this guy do these tricks !?!?

I can see how he might do some of them - by "planting" simple scrambles, then perfecting (and hiding!) his One-Handed solving... but the rest of what he does is baffling!

The first bag trick is a fast OH solve.
In the second bag trick there are 3 cubes in the bag, not two. You'll see that the cube Simon put in the bag is a different scramble from the one that came out.
The cube that is thrown up scrambled and lands solved is another fast OH.
The instant solve is a special scramble. Just before he tips in onto his hand the three sides you can see have only 3 colours in total.
The tricks are not particularly complicated, it's the speed at which they are done and the presentation that makes it so good.

Been looking at the card in the cube one and here's my best guess. I think that he restricts the number of cards that can be seen to 20 and that there's a piece from each of those 20 in a different cubie. When he tears the piece off its quite messy so he can get away with any imperfections.
