I've been watching vidoes of all the really fast people on the 3x3x3 and I noticed that everyone has a color that they start with every time. I've always just picked the color that looks quickest. Is that a bad thing to do?

No, that's just a good thing IMO. Some really fast cubers do that, too. Jason Thong is really fast and completely color neutral, for example. I'm color neutral, too, but not a really fast cuber yet...

It's definitely a good thing to do that. It takes a lot of practice, and it looks like you're on your way to doing very well. I only use 1 color, and sometimes I'll alternate just to try it out. I figure I'll master white, then maybe try some others out.
