Hi. I have always been puzzled by the square-1 as it shape-shifts. I finally learned how to solve it, however, even after 30 solves, I still need a guide. the algs for it just dont stick in my head as well as they do for nxn puzzles.
Any tips for this?
BTW I solve it using whatever method is the one listed on Cubezone.com

I just use muscle memory, if the alg shapeshifts, I might look at what cube shapes come up but other than that it's just muscle memory.

Similar to what Berd said, when I first started out and hadn't developed muscle memory for any of my algs, I would watch what shapes were formed on the top layer after each twist (this obviously only works for algs that go out of cubeshape, but these tend to be the ones which are harder to remember).
